Leadership training outdoor activity

ABB launched a global effort to transform the leadership culture of its top 200 leaders. The goal was to prepare them to thrive amid rapid industry changes and internal shifts. This leadership initiative empowered them to navigate uncertainty and lead with agility.

Challenge

ABB faced the critical task of preparing 200 leaders for the uncertainties and challenges presented by an evolving market. The goal was to help leaders adapt to these changes and drive the organization forward with a renewed, adaptive leadership approach.

Key Elements

To tackle this challenge, ABB focused on providing leaders with the necessary tools, perspectives, and experiences to excel in times of transformation.

Key elements of the program included:

Confronting the Unknown: Exposing leaders to unexpected and unfamiliar situations that challenged their thinking and decision-making.

Cross-Fertilization Exchanges: Facilitating valuable exchanges between leaders, peers, clients, and stakeholders to create new insights and approaches.

360-Degree Feedback: Gaining unbiased perspectives from clients, peers, and partners to foster a deeper understanding of leadership effectiveness.

Goals

The ultimate objective was to:

• Push the top 200 ABB leaders to their personal and professional limits, preparing them to implement the necessary changes in leadership.

• Equip them with practical, actionable tools to lead differently and more effectively in a rapidly changing environment.

• Foster a positive, contagious energy that would help spread this cultural transformation throughout the organization.

Impactful program design starts with asking powerful questions. Stucki’s team did exactly that, and this helped us clarify and articulate the true objectives for the program. Their contribution to design and development was invaluable too. They were able to propose innovative solutions that were founded in Adult Learning methodology and Mind-Brain Research. Their pedagogical approach was a breath of fresh air from the commoditized offerings one sees in Learning these days. They followed it up with superlative delivery, facilitation, and infrastructure management.
