Each year, Hager Group brings together its managers and emerging leaders from across the world for its Management Summer School. In 2026, the ambition went beyond delivering another leadership event. Under the theme “Step Up”, the objective was to create an experience that would strengthen leadership, reinforce the company’s transformation, and build meaningful connections across countries, functions, and generations.

To bring this vision to life, Hager partnered with Stucki Leadership & Team Development to design and facilitate a highly interactive three-day learning experience in Verbier, Switzerland. Rather than relying on presentations, the program immersed more than 110 leaders in realistic simulations, collaborative challenges, and facilitated reflection, making leadership tangible through experience.

Challenge

Hager Group was entering the next phase of its organisational transformation. While the strategic direction was clear, ensuring that more than 110 leaders from 12 countries shared a common understanding of their role in driving that transformation presented a significant challenge.

The complexity was shaped by several factors:

  • Aligning leaders from different countries, cultures, functions, and generations around a common purpose.
  • Creating emotional commitment to the company’s transformation rather than simply communicating strategy.
  • Strengthening collaboration, trust, and communication across organisational boundaries.
  • Designing and delivering a seamless leadership experience for a large international audience while ensuring every activity remained relevant to participants’ day-to-day leadership challenges.

The objective was not only to inspire participants, but to create lasting behavioural change and a shared language for leadership across the organisation.

Key Elements

The programme was designed around the belief that leadership is best developed through experience rather than instruction.

Over three days, participants engaged in immersive simulations, collaborative learning formats, and structured reflection sessions that challenged them to explore how they lead under pressure, navigate uncertainty, and create high-performing teams.

Each experience was followed by facilitated debriefs connecting the activities directly to Hager’s transformation journey and the realities leaders face every day.

Key leadership themes included:

  • Building trust and psychological safety
  • Creating clarity and shared priorities
  • Strengthening collaboration across teams and cultures
  • Balancing planning with action
  • Taking ownership and encouraging accountability
  • Improving communication and feedback
  • Navigating VUCA and BANI environments
  • Leveraging new technologies and AI as leadership resources
  • Leading change through purpose rather than authority

Throughout the program, leaders explored how organisational performance is shaped not only by individual capability, but by the systems, behaviours, and environments leaders create around their teams.

Goals

The Management Summer School was designed to support Hager Group’s transformation by helping leaders:

  • Strengthen commitment to the company’s strategic direction.
  • Build stronger collaboration across countries, functions, and
